Men’s Tennis captures four wins in main draw at ITA All-American Championships

Seniors Eliot Spizzirri and Micah Braswell advanced in singles, while the duos of Spizzirri and senior Cleeve Harper, and senior Siem Woldeab and junior Pierre-Yves Bailly advanced in doubles.
Tulsa, Okla. – Six Texas Men's Tennis players were in action at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., as main draws began in both singles and doubles.
Senior No. 1 Eliot Spizzirri opened his tournament with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Lodewijk Weststrate of USC. Senior No. 17 Micah Braswell advanced with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Samuel Sippel of Boise State. Four players dropped their matches and will continue the tournament in the consolation bracket. Junior No. 16 Pierre-Yves Bailly fell to No. 37 Ronnie Hohmann of Michigan State, 6-4, 6-2; senior No. 28 Siem Woldeab was downed by No. 87 Jay Friend of Arizona, 6-4, 6-3; sophomore No. 45 Jonah Braswell fell to No. 22 Peter Makk of USC, 6-2, 6-2; and senior Cleeve Harper came up just short to No. 25 Ozan Baris of Michigan State, 7-5, 6-4.
Both of the Texas doubles pairs advanced to the main draw round of 16, starting with the nation's ninth-ranked duo in Woldeab and Bailly taking down No. 35 Aidan Kim and Tanapatt Nirundorn of Florida, 6-3, 7-6 (7). The nation's top-ranked doubles team in Spizzirri and Harper defeated No. 55 Geronimo Busleiman and Berk Bugarikj of Utah, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
The singles main draw will continue on Thursday with Spizzirri and Micah Braswell competing in the round of 32, and the doubles main draw will carry on with the pairs of Spizzirri and Harper, and Woldeab and Bailly in the round of 16. In addition, Woldeab, Harper, Bailly and Jonah Braswell will be competing in the consolation bracket of the singles main draw.
