Longhorn teammates win mixed synchro 3-meter in Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Noah Duperre and Bridget O'Neil of the Texas men's and women's diving programs took home the gold medal in the mixed synchronized 3-meter event at the 2023 USA Diving Winter National Championships.
The Longhorn duo scored 291.78 points to win their first mixed synchro title after four tried. On all three of their optional dives, the Texas teammates scored 61.38 points or higher. Their inward 2 ½ pike was the highlight of their performance scoring a total of 69.30 points.
Duperre spoke to the media and said, "We've been so close so many times. We've been to the podium three times before, but we've always gotten bronze."
Their wins qualified them to represent the United States at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Quatar next February.
"I think we're really lucky to be on the same team and be able to train together," O'Neil added. "That really helps us out. We have a lot of fun. It's really nice to see our work pay off."
