The Longhorns will face Colgate in the NCAA First Round on Thursday, March 16 at 6:25 p.m. CT on TBS.
DES MOINES, Iowa — The tip-off time for The University of Texas' NCAA First Round contest on Thursday, March 16 has been set for 6:25 p.m. Central, CBS Sports and Turner Sports announced Sunday night. The No. 7/7 Longhorns (26-8, 12-6 Big 12), the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, will face No. 15 seed Colgate (26-8, 17-1 Patriot) at Wells Fargo Arena, and the game will be televised nationally by TBS.
The No. 2 seed marks UT's highest NCAA Tournament seed since the Longhorns were the No. 2 seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The 2008 tourney marks the last time Texas advanced to at least the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
This marks the 37th overall appearance by the Longhorns in the NCAA Tournament. UT will make its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 24 seasons (not including the 2021 postseason which was canceled due to COVID-19) and is just one of seven schools nationally to appear in at least 21 of the last 24 NCAA tourneys. The Longhorns also are one of just six schools to appear in at least 29 of the last 34 NCAA Tournaments.
