AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men's Basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the final Associated Press Top 25, the wire service announced Monday. This marks a tie for the highest ranking in the final AP poll in program history, matching the No. 5 ranking set in the 2002-03 Final Four season.
Texas has now made 14 appearances in the final AP poll since the wire service started its college basketball rankings in 1949. This marks the sixth time the Longhorns have been ranked in the top 10 in the final AP poll.
Texas (26-8, 12-6 Big 12), the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, faces No. 15 seed Colgate in the NCAA First Round on Thursday, March 16. Tip is set for 6:25 p.m. Central at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, and the game will be televised nationally by TBS.
