Men’s Basketball signee Holland shines at Nike Hoop Summit

Ron Holland leads Team USA in scoring, rebounds and assists and sets event record with six steals.
PORTLAND, Oregon — University of Texas Men's Basketball signee Ron Holland displayed his all-around skill set while leading Team USA to a 90-84 victory over Team World at the Nike Hoop Summit on Saturday night at Moda Center. Holland posted a team-high 15 points (9-10 FT), team-best nine rebounds (five offensive) and team-high five assists while adding an event-record six steals and one blocked shot in 26 minutes.
Holland's six steals during Team USA's win surpassed the previous event record of five thefts. The previous mark was held by Markelle Fultz (2016), Tyus Jones (2014), John Wall (2009) and Ron Artest (1997).
Holland was one of five finalists this year for the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Boys Player of the Year. He also became the 23rd player in UT program history to play in the McDonald's All-American Game in late March.
Holland (6-8, 200), a forward from Duncanville, Texas who concluded his prep career at Duncanville High School, is ranked as the No. 1 power forward in the nation, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Texas and the No. 6 overall player in the country in the Class of 2023 by 247 Sports. During his four-year career at Duncanville, Holland led the school to an overall record of 123-8 including a 26-0 mark in the UIL state playoffs. He finished his prep career with over 1,500 points and over 900 rebounds. Duncanville completed the 2022-23 season with a 29-1 record.
