No. 9 Women’s Tennis earns one NCAA Doubles Championship at-large selection

Charlotte Chavatipon and Sabina Zeynalova claim spot in 32-team doubles draw.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas women's tennis junior Charlotte Chavatipon and sophomore Sabina Zeynalova were selected to the 32-team doubles draw at the upcoming 2023 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship. First-round pairings and the brackets for the doubles draw will be released at a later date.
Chavatipon and Zeynalova are No. 28 in the latest ITA national doubles rankings and have posted a 12-5 record in dual-match doubles play this spring. The duo claimed All-Big 12 doubles first-team honors and tallied a 5-3 mark in league play during the regular season. This will mark the first NCAA Doubles Championship appearance for both Chavatipon and Zeynalova.
The NCAA singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 22-27 at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla. after the conclusion of the team championship. All matches will be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
The No. 8 national seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, Texas (21-4) returns to the courts when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (25-2) in the NCAA First Round on Friday, May 5. First serve is set for 2 p.m. Central at the Texas Tennis Center, and admission for the general public is free.
