Hernandez wins USA Diving 1-meter National Championship

Hailey Hernandez qualified to compete on Team USA for the World Championships; Texas totaled five victories at meets in Europe, West Virginia, North Carolina and California.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Diving's Hailey Hernandez won the 1-meter springboard on Saturday at the US Diving Spring National Championships, highlighting a successful day of competition for the Longhorns at four meets. Lydia Jacoby opened the day for Texas with a victory in the 100-meter breaststroke at Mare Nostrum Monaco, Olivia Bray secured a pair of golds at the Martha McKee Charlotte Open and Jake Foster earned a win in the 200-meter breaststroke at the TYR Pro Series Mission Viejo.
Hernandez scored 530.10 points on two lists of dives to win the women's 1-meter gold and earn a spot on the U.S. team for this summer's World Aquatics Championships.
With the top-two finishers earning spots on the world team, Hernandez led by 18.10 points after the morning preliminaries. She extended her lead in the finals when she scored 50 points or higher on four of her five dives, including 58.50 points on her front 2 ½ pike for the highest scoring dive by anyone in the contest.
"I'm super excited. It always feels good to be out there and compete," Hernandez said. "I'm really happy with the results today, and it gives me good confidence heading into 3-meter."
It was Hernandez' third national title on 1-meter and seventh overall.
Bridget O'Neil earned a podium spot on 1-meter, winning bronze with 494.15 points, while Nick Harris won bronze in the men's 1-meter with 726.75.
In Europe, Jacoby continued her stellar week in the Mare Nostrum Series, winning the 100-meter breaststroke in Monaco with a time of 1:05.99. It marked her third gold-medal performance of the series after earning wins in the 100m breast and 200 breast in Barcelona.
Foster won gold in California with a wire-to-wire victory in the 200-meter breaststroke, swimming 2:11.58 to secure the gold. It marked third medal of the meet after collecting silvers in the 50m breast and 400m IM.
At the Martha McKee Charlotte Open, Bray tallied wins in the 100m back (1:01.25) and 50m fly (26.74), bringing her total number of victories to five over the last two days.
Emma Sticklen won a pair of medals, earning silver in the 200m fly (2:12.98) and bronze in 50m fly (27.85). Channing Hanley and Olivia McMurray each won silver medals, with Hanley taking second in the 200m breast (2:32.08) and McMurray finishing runner-up in the 400m free (4:17.96).
In California, Kelly Pash collected her third medal of the TYR Pro Series Mission Viejo with a third-place finish in the 100m fly in 57.89. She also won gold in the 200m fly and silver in the 200m free.
On the men's side, Alec Enyeart secured a bronze medal in the 800-meter free, touching the wall in 7:59.66.
