PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Longhorns Emily Froehlich and Daisy Mazzio-Manson were named to the 2023 USRowing Senior National Team, the organization announced on Sunday. Froehlich and Mazzio-Manson are first-time selections to the senior team and will race as part of the women's eight at the 2023 World Rowing Championships September 3-10 in Belgrade, Serbia.
Froehlich (2014-18) was a three-time All-American with the Longhorns, helping UT to top-eight results at four NCAA Championships, including a then-program-best third-place finish in 2018. At the 2018 national regatta, she rowed at two-seat in the I Eight's third-place performance, the first podium finish for a boat in program history. A native of Fishers, Ind., Froehlich was named the 2018 Big 12 Rower of the Year, the 2015 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and is one of three athletes to be a four-time selection to the All-Big 12 Team.
Mazzio-Manson (2020-21) was a member of Texas' first-ever national championship team in 2021, rowing at four-seat in the I Eight's come-from-behind victory in the grand final. A graduate transfer in 2021, she earned All-Big 12 Team honors that year after helping UT win a sixth consecutive conference crown.
The 2023 World Rowing Championships are the first opportunity for countries to qualify boats for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
