Jacoby earns 4x100m medley relay gold at World Aquatics Championships

Lydia Jacoby competed in the 4x100-meter medley relay prelims for the gold medal-winning United States squad.
FUKUOKA, Japan – Texas Swimming's Lydia Jacoby collected gold in the 4x100-meter relay with the United States on Sunday at the Marine Messe Fukuoka on the final day of the World Aquatics Championships. Jacoby competed in the preliminary heat, swimming the breaststroke leg and helping Team USA to the second-fastest time in the round.
Jacoby joined United States teammates Katharine Berkoff, Torri Huske and Abbey Weitzeil to register a time of 3:56.31 during the prelim stage, 0.38 seconds behind Canada. In the final race of the championships, the quartet of Regan Smith, Lilly King, Gretchen Walsh and Kate Douglass came away with the 4x100 medley relay gold in 3:52.08. Australia won silver in 3:53.37 and Canada captured bronze in 3:54.12.
Five Texas swimmers combined to earn seven total medals across five events at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships with one gold, five silvers and one bronze. Jacoby and Carson Foster each won a pair of medals, while Luke Hobson, incoming Longhorn Erin Gemmell and Texas Ex Drew Kibler collected one each.
