Fernanda Labraña wins ITF 15K Lima doubles title

Former Longhorn claims her seventh career ITF 15K doubles championship.
LIMA, Peru — Former University of Texas Women's Tennis standout Fernanda Labraña and partner Romina Ccuno posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lourdes Ayala and Julieta Estable in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) 15K doubles championship match on Saturday afternoon at Rinconada Country Club. This marked Labraña's seventh ITF 15K doubles title and first of the 2023 season.
During Saturday's title match, Labraña and Ccuno trailed 4-2 in the opening set before winning four-straight games to take the first set, 6-4. Ayala and Estable jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the second set, before Labraña and Ccuno claimed back-to-back games to even the set at 2-2. Tied at 4-4, Labraña and Ccuno held serve and then earned a service break to close out the match and secure the title.
Labraña and Ccuno won a total of four matches in a five-day span (Aug. 22-26) in their run through the tournament's 16-team main draw. The duo posted straight-set victories in three of their four wins.
Labraña concluded her career at Texas in 2021 after leading the Longhorns to a 31-1 record and the NCAA team title.
