Carson Foster wins 400m IM, Hobson reaches 200m free final at TYR Pro Series Knoxville

Longhorns tally strong results at the TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Former Longhorn Carson Foster captured gold and junior Luke Hobson swam in his first championship final of the competition at the TYR Pro Swim Series stop on Friday night inside Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Carson Foster dominated the 400-meter individual medley with a wire-to-wire victory, touching the wall in 4:13.04, the seventh-fastest time in the world this season and more than five seconds ahead of runner-up Bobby Finke.
Hobson posted a time of 1:49.50 in the 200-meter freestyle, good for seventh in the championship final.
Shane Casas, who trains in Austin with Texas head coach Eddie Reese and associate head coach Wyatt Collins, won the 100-meter butterfly with a swim of 51.50. Casas also qualified for the 200-meter backstroke final but elected to scratch to focus on the 100 fly.
Competition concludes tomorrow with the 800-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter breaststroke, 200-meter individual medley and 50-meter freestyle. Prelims begin at 8 a.m. CT and finals at 5 p.m. CT with all races streaming live on the USA Swimming Network.
