Women’s Basketball’s Taylor Jones among top 10 candidates for Lisa Leslie Award

The Lisa Leslie Award goes to the top female collegiate center.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Women's Basketball senior Taylor Jones has been selected among the best centers in women's college basketball as she made the list of the top 10 candidates for the Lisa Leslie Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the WBCA announced on Friday.
Named after the three-time All-American,1994 National Player of the Year and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer, the Lisa Leslie Award in its seventh year recognizes the top centers in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the top 10 list.
Jones is averaging 13.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and has recorded four double-doubles this season.
Against Oral Roberts, Jones scored a career-high 27 points on 11-11 shooting from the field. Jones became the second player in UT women's basketball history to make 11 shots without a miss.
Jones has scored 1,241 career points and is a career 59.1 percent shooter. This season, Jones ranks sixth in the NCAA in field goal percentage at 65.4 percent. Jones has also blocked 27 shots this season.

The winner of the 2024 Lisa Leslie Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Award (Point Guard), Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (Shooting Guard), Cheryl Miller Award (Small Forward), and the Katrina McClain Award (Power Forward), in addition to the Men's Starting Five.
