Women’s Tennis’ Bowers, Anazagasty-Pursoo reach ITA Texas Regionals final

Freshmen Ashton Bowers and Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo will square off in an all-Longhorn title match.
Fort Worth – Texas Women's Tennis freshmen Ashton Bowers and Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo reached the final of ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Monday. The teammates will square off in an all-Longhorn title match at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
Texas had already accounted for three-quarters of the semifinals as No. 104 Bowers had topped teammate junior No. 96 Vivian Ovrootsky, 6-0, 7-5. Anazagasty-Pursoo then defeated Daria Smetannikov of Texas A&M in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Head coach Howard Joffe secured having a singles finalist or winner in the tournament for the 14th consecutive year with 10 straight at Texas and the previous four at Texas A&M.
