No. 2 Women’s Swim breaks three program records at Texas Invitational

Emma Sticklen set her third individual school record this season.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 2 Texas women's swimming team took down three program records on the opening night of the Texas Invitational.
The 200 free relay started fast with the Longhorns breaking the program record with a time of 1:25.92. Emma Sticklen, Grace Cooper, Abby Arens and Ava Longi took down last season's record of 1:26.17 set at the NCAA Championships.
Sticklen's opening leg of 21.50 took down Cooper's previous record and gave Sticklen her third individual record broken this season. She previously broke both 100 fly and 200 fly this year.
Jillian Cox demolished her previous 500 free record by four seconds with a winning time of 4:30.68. The time met the NCAA-A cut standard. Freshman Kate Hurst was third with her time of 4:37.59, taking three seconds off her time from the prelims. Sophomore Erin Gemmell was fifth with her time of 4:38.28.
Sticklen returned to the pool to win the 200 IM with an A-cut time of 1:52.75. The time is the second-fastest time in school history behind Madison Cox's record of 1:52.58 set in 2017.
Cooper later tied Olympic gold medalist Torri Huske of Stanford to win the 50 free with times of 21.81. Longi was fourth in 21.90.
Emma Kern, Arens, Sticklen and Gemmell closed out the night with a winning 400 medley relay time of 3:27.12 for another A-cut time. Berit Berglund, Piper Enge, Campbell Stoll and Longi were just behind in 3:27.91.
