Foster advances to 200m IM final at World Aquatics Championships

Carson Foster posted the top time in the semifinals to reach Thursday’s final.
DOHA, Qatar – Former Texas swimmer Carson Foster advanced to the 200-meter medley final at the World Aquatics Championships on Wednesday inside the Aspire Dome.
Competing for the United States, Foster earned the top seed in the 200m IM final after a semifinals swim of 1:57.13. The Cincinnati native trailed American teammate Shane Casas at the final turn of their semifinal, but took the lead in the final meters of the freestyle leg. Casas, who trains in Austin with coaches Eddie Reese and Wyatt Collins, took the runner-up spot in 1:57.62, which was also the second-fastest time in the semifinals. Foster and Casas will race out of lanes four and five, respectively, in the final, which is set for Thursday, Feb. 15 at 11:03 a.m. CT.
A pair of Longhorns will also race tomorrow in the 200-meter breaststroke. Jake Foster, will compete for Team USA in heat two at 1:32 a.m. CT, while Texas Ex Caspar Corbeau will race for the Netherlands in heat four at 1:40 a.m. CT.
