HOUSTON, Texas — Graduate forward Dylan Disu posted a team-high 16 points and seven rebounds, but Texas (16-9, 5-7 Big 12) dropped an 82-61 decision at No. 3/3 Houston (22-3, 9-3 Big 12) on Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Center. The Longhorns were held to team season lows in points (61), field goals made (22-57) and field goal percentage (.386).
Disu converted 5-of-13 field goals, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and 4-of-5 free throws in 25 minutes. Sophomore guard Chendall Weaver tallied 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-5 FT) and four rebounds in 26 minutes.

A Tyrese Hunter three-pointer evened the score at 17-17 with 11:03 remaining, but the Cougars scored five straight points to grab a 22-17 advantage following an Emanuel Sharp three-pointer at the 9:47 mark. An Abmas three-pointer trimmed the margin to 22-20 with 9:15 left, before Houston used a 9-0 spurt over the next five minutes to build a 31-20 cushion after a Damian Dunn free throw at the 4:26 mark. A Disu three-pointer cut the gap to 34-27 with 1:14 remaining, but the Cougars closed the half by scoring six-straight points to take a 40-27 lead into the break.
Houston opened the second half with a 12-2 spurt to increase its advantage to 52-29 after a J'Wan Roberts layup at the 16:22 mark. An L.J. Cryer three-pointer gave the Cougars a 65-41 cushion with 9:50 left, before Texas went on a 7-0 run to narrow the margin to 65-48 following a Kadin Shedrick layup at the 7:13 mark. That would be as close as the Longhorns would get for the remainder of the contest.
Texas returns to the court when it hosts Kansas State on Monday, Feb. 19. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. Central at Moody Center, and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
