Four Longhorns invited to USRowing Olympic Selection Camp

Texas Exes Emily Froehlich, Kate Knifton, Daisy Mazzio-Manson and Rachel Rane will compete for spots on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Longhorns Emily Froehlich, Kaitlin Knifton, Daisy Mazzio-Manson and Rachel Rane will take part in the USRowing 2024 Olympic Selection Camp, the organization announced on Friday. The camp is scheduled for March 3-24 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. and will select the women's double sculls, lightweight women's double sculls, women's four, men's four, and women's eight that will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in July.

Froehlich and Mazzio-Manson raced for the United States at the 2023 World Rowing Championships, while Knifton and Rane competed for USRowing at the 2022 World Rowing U23 Championships.
Froehlich (2014-18) was a three-time All-American with the Longhorns, helping UT to top-eight results at four NCAA Championships, including a then-program-best third-place finish in 2018. At the 2018 national regatta, she rowed at two-seat in the I Eight's third-place performance, the first podium finish for a boat in program history. A native of Fishers, Ind., Froehlich was named the 2018 Big 12 Rower of the Year, the 2015 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and is one of three athletes to be a four-time selection to the All-Big 12 Team.
Knifton (2019-23), the 2023 Big 12 Rower of the Year and Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year, rowed at stroke-seat on the Texas I Eight each of the last three seasons, winning two NCAA team championships and a pair of First Eight national crowns in 2021 and 2022. All told, she helped the Longhorns to four top-four national showings, including a runner-up finish in 2019 and a fourth-place result last year. The USRowing 2022 Co-Female Athlete of the Year, she won gold with Team USA last summer in the Women's Four (BW4-) at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. The Austin native was a three-time All-American, three-time All-Big 12 Team selection and a 2022-23 first-team Academic All-American.
Mazzio-Manson (2020-21) was a member of Texas' first-ever national championship team in 2021, rowing at four-seat in the I Eight's come-from-behind victory in the grand final. A graduate transfer in 2021, she earned All-Big 12 Team honors that year after helping UT win a sixth consecutive conference crown.
Rane (2020-23) coxed the Texas First Eight for three seasons, winning a pair of national and First Eight titles in 2021 and 2022. The Glencoe, Ill. native won gold at the 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in the Women's Eight (BW8+), an open water victory ahead of runner-up Great Britain. A two-time All-American and three-time All-Big 12 Team selection, Rane helped lead the Longhorns to top-four national finishes at each of the last three NCAA Championships.
All told, 67 athletes were invited to the 2024 Olympic Selection Camp. The camp also will select the men's eight that will compete at the 2024 World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta for a chance to represent the U.S. at the Olympic Games, as well as men's and women's quadruple sculls crews that will race at the 2024. U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Trials – Rowing April 2-7 in Sarasota. The winning quads at Olympic Trials will then go on to the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta to try to earn a spot in Paris.
