Men’s Basketball signee Johnson set for McDonald’s All-American Game

HOUSTON, Texas — University of Texas Men's Basketball signee Tre Johnson is one of 24 players who will compete in the 47th annual McDonald's All-American Boys Game on Tuesday, April 2. The McDonald's All-American Boys Game will be played inside Houston's Toyota Center at 8 p.m. Central and televised nationally by ESPN.
In addition to its coverage of the annual Girls and Boys Games on Tuesday night, ESPN2 will air the McDonald's Powerade Jam Fest on Monday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. Central.
Johnson, who will become the 23rd player in UT program history to play in the McDonald's All-American Game, will compete for the West roster in Tuesday's contest. Texas also has had two signees (C.J. Miles in 2005, Ron Holland in 2023) who participated in the McDonald's All-American Game but elected to turn professional after high school.
Johnson (6-6, 190), a guard from Dallas, Texas who plays at Link Academy (Branson, Mo.), is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the nation by Rivals and No. 5 by ESPN and 247 Sports Composite. He was named the state of Missouri Player of the Year by MaxPreps in March. Johnson has led Link Academy to a 25-6 record and the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Chipotle Nationals. For the season, he has averaged 15.5 points, 3.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game while converting nearly 40-percent from three-point range and 90.5-percent from the free throw line.
