Neugebauer wins first-ever National Athlete of the Week accolades.
AUSTIN, Texas – Leo Neugebauer of the No. 4 Texas men's track and field program was named the USTFCCCA National and Big 12 Athlete of the Week.
On his way to his third-straight Texas Relays decathlon title, Neugebauer recorded the third-best score in NCAA history with 8,708. His Relays record-setting performance was highlighted by the NCAA-best shot put throw by a decathlete for 17.26m (56-7.50) and a personal-best throw of 58.99m (193-6) in the javelin.
Neugebauer previously set the collegiate record in the NCAA Championships in 2023 with a score of 8,836 points.
It's the first time in his career Neugebauer has been named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and the third time he's won the conference honor.
