The Longhorns are the only team in the nation to have finished in the top four of the final rankings in five of the last six years.
Austin – The University of Texas Men's Tennis team was No. 2 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings of the 2024 season released Wednesday. That makes the Longhorns the only team in the nation to have finished in the top four of the final rankings in five of the last six years.
Texas earned a No. 3 ranking in 2023, finished No. 12 in an injury-plagued 2022 season, but then was No. 3 in 2021, No. 4 in 2020 and No. 1 in 2019 after winning the National Championship.
Texas concluded the 2023-24 season as the National Runner-Up, reaching the team final for the third time in program history, along with 2019 and 2008. The Longhorns are also the only program in the nation to make it to the Final Four in four of the last five tournaments with there not being one in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Texas won both the Big 12 regular season and tournament championships and posted a 27-4 record, with the 27 wins being the second-most in a season since 2010, trailing only the 29 by the 2019 team. Those included top-15 victories over No. 1 Ohio State, two against eventual champion TCU when they were ranked No. 2 and No. 3, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 13 Michigan and No. 15 Stanford.
