Rowing’s Jensen tabbed finalist for CRCA Athlete of the Year
06.12.2024 | Rowing
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Rowing's Anna Jensen was named one of eight finalists for the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division I Athlete of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday.
A three-time CRCA First Team All-American, three-time national champion and the 2024 Big 12 Rower of the Year, Jensen was pivotal in Texas Rowing winning its third NCAA Championship in 2024 – its third national crown over a four-year period.
The Midland, Mich., product guided Texas' I Eight to an unbeaten season in which UT won every race in 2024. Behind Jensen's dominance, the Texas I Eight has gone undefeated in three of the last four seasons.
Jensen helped the Texas First Varsity Eight capture the national championship on June 2 in Bethel, Ohio, closing out the national regatta with a thrilling victory (6:09.920) to claim the program's third Varsity Eight national crown. Princeton carried an early lead through the race's first 500 meters, but Texas quickly acquired the lead and didn't surrender it over the remaining 1,500 meters. Texas continued to build upon its lead throughout the race, pushing its advantage to a half-boat length when the Longhorns crossed the finish line.
Etching her name into the program record book, Jensen joins Longhorn greats Gia Doonan, Emily Froehlich and Kate Knifton as three-time first-team honorees.
The CRCA Athlete of the Year Award, in its third year of existence, provides a unique opportunity for the organization to acknowledge and recognize the individual efforts, impactful actions and remarkable outcomes achieved over the academic year. The award looks to spotlight a student-athlete who was a top performer in a sport where individual recognition is so rare.
