Track and Field's McCarter finishes sixth in long jump at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Texas Ex Steffin McCarter finished sixth in the men's long jump at the U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in an electric final three rounds.
McCarter sat in fourth-place after three rounds of jumps with a mark of 8.08m (26-6.25). He moved up to third-place with his jump of 8.10m (26-7), but with two close fouls on his final two jumps, McCarter fell to sixth overall.
Fellow Texas Ex Ashtin Zamzow-Mahler finished ninth overall in the women's heptathlon scoring 6,058 points. Zamzow-Mahler entered day two of the competition in 11th-place with 3,622 points. She began the day with a jump of 5.79m in the long jump, had the top throw in javelin at 49.30m and concluded the day running the 800-meter in 2:21.53.
Elena Bruckner was the final Texas Ex to compete on Monday and earned a spot in Thursday's discus final with her first round throw of 61.35m (201-3).
