Five named to Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball Team

Cunningham, Disu, Hunter, Mitchell and Perryman earn first-team honors.
IRVING, Texas — A total of five University of Texas Men's Basketball players have earned spots on the 2024 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Basketball Team, the league office announced Tuesday. Graduate Brock Cunningham, graduate Dylan Disu, junior Tyrese Hunter, sophomore Dillon Mitchell and redshirt sophomore Gavin Perryman were named to the First Team.
Cunningham earned his fifth career selection to the academic all-league team, as he also earned first-team honors in 2022 and 2023 and second-team mention in 2020 and 2021. Disu and Perryman each claimed their second career selections to the squad, as they both earned first-team accolades in 2023. Hunter and Mitchell each claimed their first career selections to the squad.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify for the team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and met all the other criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
