Women’s Tennis signs international standout Salma Drugdova

Salma Drugdova, a native of Zvolen, Slovakia, who has already ranked in the WTA top 600 in singles and doubles, will join the Longhorns’ roster for the upcoming season.
Austin – University of Texas Women's Tennis has signed international standout Salma Drugdova to an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA), head coach Howard Joffe announced Thursday. Drugdova will join the program for the upcoming season.
A native of Zvolen, Slovakia, Drugdova has posted a career high WTA singles ranking of No. 569 and is currently No. 609. She is also currently No. 419 in doubles, which is a career high.
Twice in recent months, Drugdova has emerged from singles qualifying to reach the second round of the main draw of W35 tournaments in Loule and Faro in Portugal after doing so earlier in the year at Monastir in Tunisia. She also reached the final of the W15 Slovenske Konjice in Slovakia in 2024, and the semifinals of the W25 Sharm ElSheikh in 2023, along with the semifinals of seven other W15 tournaments over the past two years.
In doubles, she owns five pro titles, all with different partners. Three of those came in 2024 in both the W35 and W15 Sharm ElSheikh in April and March, respectively, and the W15 Osijek in Croatia. She also won the W15 Kursumlijska Banja in Croatia and the W15 Monastir that ended on July 9 in 2023. Additionally, she made the final of the W35 Loule, the September W15 Sharm ElSheikh, the W15 Krakow, and the May 2023 W15 Monastir.
In juniors, Drugdova notched a career high of No. 124 in November 2022. She won the singles title at the J4 Zilina in Slovakia and reached the final of the J3 Sarawak in Malaysia and the J2 Cairo in Egypt that year. In 2020, she made back-to-back J4 finals in Kranj and Radomlje in Slovakia. She secured seven doubles titles in juniors, including Zilina and Sarawak in 2020, the J3 Barcelona in 2021, the J5 Budapest, J4 Kranj and J4 Radomlje in 2020, and the J5 Tirana in 2019.
