"I'm excited to add another Gatorade Player of the Year from the state of Utah in Teya Sidberry who comes to us from Boston College," Texas head coach Vic Schaefer said. "She still holds the high school career points record in Utah. Teya will add tremendous athleticism and size to our program. She has proven to be a scorer at all three levels. When addressing our needs we really felt Teya could bring grittiness, a knack for rebounding and an ability to finish and score in multiple ways. Teya comes from an amazing family. Her spirit and smile are infectious and Longhorn Nation will love her. She wants to win and will be a great teammate. She will have an immediate impact on our program. She is another great competitor we've been able to add to our program."
Sidberry has scored 989 points in her collegiate career with 861 points over her last two seasons. Over those two seasons she has recorded 115 steals.
Sidberry was the 2022 Ms. Basketball in Utah and 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year and is the all-time leading scorer in Utah high school history with 2,534 points. She averaged 29.6 points and 12.7 rebounds per game in her junior year of high school.
