Men’s Tennis’ Gorzny reaches singles round of 16, doubles pair makes quarterfinals of ITA All-Americans

Sebastian Gorzny advanced in both singles and doubles, while Lucas Brown joined him in doubles on Thursday.
Tulsa, Okla. – Texas Men's Tennis senior No. 12 Sebastian Gorzny reached the singles round of 16 at the All-American Championships, while the No. 39 pair of Gorzny and junior Lucas Brown made the quarterfinals in Tulsa on Thursday.
Gorzny defeated No. 30 Alexander Bernard of Ohio State, 6-2, 6-4, to advance, and later combined with Brown for a decisive top-20 win over No. 19 Jack Anthrop and Preston Stearns, also of the Buckeyes, 6-3, 6-1.
Two other Longhorns competed in the singles round of 32, however senior No. 37 Jonah Braswell fell to 7 seed No. 9 Dylan Dietrich of Virginia, 6-4, 6-4, and sophomore No. 54 Sebastian Eriksson was downed by No. 36 Emon van Loben Sels of UCLA, 7-6 (8), 6-4.
Brown had moved into the main draw consolation bracket and rallied for a top-40 victory over No. 34 Alexander Frusina of Texas A&M, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Gorzny will next face 8 seed No. 10 Sebastian Dominko of Notre Dame on Friday at 11 a.m. CT, while Gorzny and Brown will square off against No. 33 Tanapatt Nirundorn and Henry Jefferson of Florida at 5 p.m. CT. In the singles consolation bracket, Brown will play No. 28 Jack Loutit of Kentucky at 10:30 a.m. CT.
