Swain named SEC Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week

Junior Dailyn Swain recorded a game-high 25 points in Texas’ 85-68 win at Missouri on Saturday night.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — University of Texas Men's Basketball junior guard/forward Dailyn Swain has been named the SEC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week Presented by Allstate, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Swain earned his first career SEC weekly award and shared the honor with Florida guard Xaivian Lee.
In Saturday's 85-68 win at Missouri, Swain registered a game-high 25 points (9-16 FG, 3-6 threes, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 37 minutes. This marked Swain's eighth 20-point effort of the season and sixth time in 12 SEC contests that he has reached the 20-point mark. He has reached double figures in scoring 22 times in the first 25 contests of the season.
One of 10 players on the Midseason Watch List for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award, Swain leads the team in scoring (17.6 ppg), rebounding (7.3 rpg), assists (85, 3.4 apg), steals (47, 1.9 spg) and minutes (31.6 mpg). Per ESPN Research, he is one of three players in Major Conferences to currently lead his team in at least five major statistical categories, joining Cameron Boozer (Duke) and Caleb Wilson (North Carolina). During SEC play, Swain is averaging 20.4 ppg and 7.8 rpg while hitting 58.5-percent (83-142) from the floor, including a 36.6-percent (15-41) mark from three-point range, and 83.1-percent (64-77) from the free throw line.
Swain and Texas are back in action when the Longhorns host LSU on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Tip is set for 8 p.m. Central in Moody Center, and the game will be televised nationally by SEC Network.
