Lewis earned first-team All-West Coast Conference honors as a sophomore at Saint Mary’s.
AUSTIN, Texas — Mikey Lewis has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Sean Miller announced Tuesday. Lewis, who spent the last two years playing at Saint Mary's, will join the Longhorns for the upcoming 2026-27 season and have two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
Lewis (6-3, 185), a guard from Oakland, Calif., has played in 68 games (33 starts) and registered 747 points (11.0 ppg), 91 assists (1.3 apg), 147 rebounds (2.2 rpg) and 46 steals (0.7 spg) in 1,446 minutes (21.3 mpg) over the last two years at Saint Mary's. He has converted 37.1-percent (126-340) from three-point range and 84.4-percent (103-122) from the free throw line during his first two collegiate seasons. Lewis has reached double figures in scoring 35 times and topped the 20-point mark nine times in his career.
During his sophomore season in 2025-26 at Saint Mary's, Lewis earned first-team All-West Coast Conference honors. He played and started all 33 games and ranked second on the team in scoring (13.9 ppg), third in assists (70) and steals and fourth in minutes (26.8 mpg) while leading the Gaels to a 27-6 record, including a 16-2 mark and regular-season title in the WCC, and a trip to the NCAA Tournament Round of 64. He converted 36.8-percent (68-185) from three-point range and 88.2-percent (82-93) from the free throw line on the season. Lewis reached double figures in scoring 24 times, topped the 20-point mark eight times and recorded one 30-point performance. He posted a career-high 31 points (10-21 FG, 7-13 threes, 4-4 FT), five rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes during the home win against No. 9/9 Gonzaga (Feb. 28). Lewis also tallied 28 points (7-13 FG, 4-6 threes, 10-10 FT), five assists and three steals in 32 minutes against Chattanooga (Nov. 7).
As a freshman in 2024-25, Lewis played in all 35 games and earned WCC Sixth Man of the Year and All-Freshman Team honors while helping the Gaels post a 29-6 record, win the West Coast Conference regular-season title with a 17-1 mark and advance to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. He averaged 8.2 points (sixth on the team) in 16.1 minutes per contest and led the squad in three-point field goals made (58) and ranked fifth in steals (23). A four-time WCC Freshman of the Week and one-time WCC Player of the Week selection, Lewis converted 37.4-percent (58-155) from three-point range and 72.4-percent (21-29) from the free throw line during the season. He reached double digits in scoring 11 times and topped the 20-point mark once. Lewis tallied a season-high 23 points (8-14 FG, 5-7 threes, 2-2 FT), four steals, four rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes against Nebraska (Nov. 17). He added 18 points (5-7 threes, 3-3 FT) in 18 minutes in the win at Gonzaga (Feb. 22) that helped clinch the WCC regular-season championship. His 287 points were the seventh-highest total scored by a true freshman during the Randy Bennett era at Saint Mary's.
Lewis spent his senior year of high school at Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.) and was tabbed the No. 90 player in the country by 247 Sports Composite, No. 98 by ESPN and No. 104 by On3 in the Class of 2024 rankings. He played for the Oakland Soldiers in the Nike EYBL, where he averaged 18.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game and earned All-EYBL Second Team honors. Lewis attended Denver Prep (Denver, Colo.) during his sophomore and junior seasons.
