AUSTIN, Texas — Mantas Laurencikas has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Sean Miller announced Friday. Laurencikas will join the Longhorns as a freshman for the upcoming 2026-27 season and have four years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
Laurencikas (6-2, 185), a guard from Kaunas (KOW-nass), Lithuania, is currently playing for AS Monaco Basket (Fontvieille, Monaco) in the French top-tier level Betclic Elite, the highest level of the French basketball system. He was called up on April 20 to the AS Monaco Basket team after competing previously for Espoirs Monaco. During the 2025-26 season, Laurencikas has averaged 13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 27.2 minutes per game while hitting 45.4-percent from the floor and 77.5-percent from the free throw line.
Laurencikas spent four seasons (2021-22 through 2024-25) competing with Zalgiris (Kaunas, Lithuania) in the Lithuanian Basketball League. He spent three-plus years developing with the club's youth system, Zalgiris Kaunas II, before being moved up to the top Zalgiris team during the 2024-25 season.
Laurencikas also has been a consistent member of the Lithuanian youth national team program. He most recently earned a silver medal for the country's U20 national team at the 2025 FIBA U20 EuroBasket in Heraklion, Greece. Laurencikas competed for the country's U18 national team at the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket and the 2023 European Championship and previously played in the 2022 FIBA U16 European Championship.
