A transfer from Oklahoma State, Nijkamp has already been an ITA All-American in doubles, an All-Big 12 First Team selection in both singles and doubles, the 2025 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, and the 2022 Wimbledon Junior Doubles Champion.
Austin, Texas – Texas Women's Tennis has signed transfer Rose Marie Nijkamp to an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA), head coach Howard Joffe announced Wednesday.
A transfer from Oklahoma State who will have two years of eligibility remaining, Nijkamp (NEE-kamp) has already been an ITA All-American in doubles in 2025, an All-Big 12 First Team selection in both singles (2025) and doubles (2025, '26), the 2025 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, and the 2022 Wimbledon Junior Doubles Champion.
"Rose is a huge addition for our program as we head into next year," Joffe said. "She has been a top collegiate player and Wimbledon champion in junior tennis, and has healthy WTA rankings, however perhaps the most appealing thing about getting to coach Rose is the substance – she is diligent, deeply resourced as a person and has the physical skills and prowess to become a real force in tennis. I know she will fit in well with our team, and that our fans will enjoy supporting her here in Austin. I'm enormously grateful to Rose and her parents for the trust they place in our program to help her next take the most critical steps. I know I intend to work with focus and passion in support of Rose's goals and help her bring excellence to Texas Women's Tennis, along with her personal career."
"I chose Texas because I truly believe it is the best place for me to keep growing as a player and as a person," Nijkamp said. "Texas has so many opportunities, both on and off the court, and I feel this is the right environment to help me take the next steps in my college career and toward my professional career. I really like the coaches, staff and the girls on the team. It feels like a place where everyone pushes each other, supports each other and wants to achieve big things together. I'm very excited and grateful for this opportunity, and I can't wait to be part of the Longhorn family."
A native of Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, Nijkamp has produced an overall collegiate singles record of 32-9 in two years at Oklahoma State, which includes 26-6 in dual matches, and 14-2 in Big 12 Conference play. She has a career-high ITA singles ranking of 19 that she reached on February 4 this year before later finishing the 2026 season at No. 45.
In doubles, she has compiled a 36-5 overall record, a 34-4 mark in dual matches, and a perfect 19-0 record in the Big 12. She has reached No. 5 in the ITA rankings on three occasions, including the preseason rankings this year, and twice in April of 2025. She closed this past season at No. 37, and in 2025, spent the last six weeks ranked in the top 10, finishing at No. 8.
As a sophomore, Nijkamp finished No. 50 in the ITA singles rankings, playing primarily at No. 3 singles, along with spending some time at No. 4, and registering a 13-7 overall record that included a 7-4 mark in dual matches and 4-2 in the Big 12. In doubles, she closed at No. 32 and went 14-2 overall, 12-1 in dual matches all at No. 1, and 8-0 in the Big 12, earning All-Big 12 First Team honors in doubles. All of that came despite the fact Oklahoma State forfeited its last five matches due to a lack of healthy players. In the fall, she was a singles finalist at the Battle in the Bay in San Francisco and reached the singles main draw round of 16 at the ITA All-American Championships.
For her freshman campaign, Nijkamp arrived at Oklahoma State in January of 2025 and went 19-2 in singles, primarily at No. 4 with some time at No. 3, along with 22-3 in doubles, all at No. 1. She went undefeated in the Big 12 in both singles (10-0) and doubles (11-0) that year. Nijkamp was named an ITA All-American in doubles, selected to the All-Big 12 First Team in both singles and doubles, chosen the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Freshman Team. Along with finishing No. 8 in doubles in the ITA rankings, she closed No. 87 in singles that year.
In pro tennis, Nijkamp has WTA career highs of No. 682 in singles, which she reached in December, and No. 563 in doubles this past August. She collected W15 singles titles in both Sumter, S.C., and Alkmaar, The Netherlands, in 2025, and has tallied five career doubles titles. Those include the W35 in Norman, Okla., last year, along with W15s in Orlando this year, in Dijon, France, and Haren, The Netherlands, in 2024, and in Monastir, Tunisia, in 2023.
Nijkamp reached a juniors high ranking of No. 30 in 2024, playing in all four junior grand slams in her career, highlighted by winning the Wimbledon Doubles Championship with Angella Okutoyi in 2022. In 2024, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, and the round of 16 of Roland Garros and Wimbledon. She also went to the round of 16 at the US Open in 2022. Meanwhile in singles, Nijkamp reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros in 2024, along with the round of 32 of the Australian Open and Wimbledon that year, while also making it to the round of 16 of Wimbledon in 2022.
Outside of the Grand Slams, Nijkamp claimed four juniors singles titles, including J100 The Hague in 2023, and 12 doubles crowns with three in 2023, seven in 2022, and two in 2021. Those included J200s in Istanbul, Turkey, Castricum, The Netherlands, and Oberhaching, Germany, all in 2023.
In National and International play, Nijkamp is a nine-time Dutch National Champion combined in singles and doubles, a two-time Dutch Women's Doubles Champion in 2023 and 2024 and has been a KNLTB Dutch National Selection Team member since age 11 in 2017.
Academically, Nijkamp is interested in marketing and has twice earned OSU Academic Recognitions. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) at Oklahoma State.
