Men’s Basketball announces neutral-site game against Miami (Fla.) in Houston

The Longhorns will face the Hurricanes on Saturday, Dec. 12 in the Toyota Center.

HOUSTON, Texas — The University of Texas and the University of Miami (Fla.) have finalized an agreement to play a neutral-site contest in Houston during the upcoming 2026-27 season, the two schools announced Wednesday. The Longhorns will face the Hurricanes on Saturday, Dec. 12 in the Toyota Center, with tip time and television network coverage to be announced later.

This will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools. The series is currently tied at two wins apiece.

The series dates back to an 85-56 Miami home victory on Dec. 19, 1987. The Longhorns recorded a 123-104 win in Austin on Feb. 22, 1989. Texas then registered a 75-72 victory in a NCAA Tournament Round of 32 contest in Little Rock, Ark., on March 23, 2008. In the most recent matchup between the two schools (March 26, 2023), the Hurricanes posted an 88-81 win in a NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game in Kansas City, Mo.
