The Red McCombs Red Zone (RMRZ) is the physical realization of a dream -- the renovation and expansion of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Red McCombs Red Zone exists on the north side of the football stadium, providing fans with another unique, state-of-the-art area to enjoy one of the best atmospheres in college football.
Completed in the fall of 2008, the Red McCombs Red Zone provides seating 30 yards closer to the playing field, 2,000 clubs seats and 2,000 chairback seats with a direct view of the large HD video screen.
The north end zone expansion was made possible by the continuing generosity of Texas businessman Red McCombs, whose philanthropy has long benefited the university. In 1997, he made the largest donation ever to women's athletics, funding the softball stadium which was subsequently named Red & Charline McCombs Field. In May 2000, McCombs became the $50 million benefactor of the Red McCombs School of Business, after giving UT the largest single donation in school history.
