The University of Texas at Austin Athletics
Texas Athletics Communications Staff
As one of the most recognized athletics programs in the nation, The University of Texas receives an extremely high volume of media attention for each of its 20 varsity athletics programs. Media both near and far regularly visit Austin to meet with student-athletes, coaches and staff members.
Consistently covered by five of the nation's 15 largest cities (Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio), the Longhorns are a well-recognized brand featured in media outlets around the state, country and world. The Communications department works closely with student-athletes, coaches and staff to service the many media requests in an efficient and timely manner.
In addition to facilitating interviews and press conferences, the communications office compiles and presents accurate information to the media while telling the many stories of Longhorns student-athletes, coaches and sports programs. The Communications staff collaborates daily with Longhorn Network (LHN), the nation's only television network with dedicated 24/7 coverage to a single university. Launched in 2011, LHN is home to more than 175 live UT events annually, exclusive studio programming and original content from across the Forty Acres. The Communications staff also presents the latest news and statistics to the media and general public at TexasSports.com and through the various individual sports' social media platforms.
