My older brothers are my best friends -- and my biggest competitors. Since they both played baseball at Texas, I thought I wanted to go my own route and play somewhere else when the time came.
But when coach called and offered me a spot with Texas Baseball, I knew I had to say yes. When you get the chance to play for a school like The University of Texas, you take it.
UT is one of the best colleges in the country and it has such a storied history. Everybody wants to go to UT, and every student-athlete wants to put on the burnt orange. The winning tradition at Texas is something that is instilled in us as soon as we arrive on the 40 acres, and it is our responsibility to keep it going.
That excellence is due in large part because of our loyal fans and donors who support us. Because of their generosity, student-athletes like me have the best resources in the country -- from our coaches and trainers to our academic counselors, Texas Athletics makes sure all of our needs are met, and they always have our best interest in mind.
As I look ahead to the future, I know it's my job after I graduate to give back and do all I can to help younger generations to maximize their potential -- just like Texas has helped me maximize mine.
