Sportsmanship Policy
Texas Athletics and the Southeastern Conference value sportsmanship, both on and off the field and in the stands. Texas is committed to providing a safe environment for all individuals employed by or associated with Texas, including Texas staff members, student-athletes, coaches, and officials. The goal is a fun, entertaining atmosphere for all fans that is free from disorderly behavior, including harassing other attendees and using obscene or abusive language or gestures. All individuals are expected to conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship and shall therefore exhibit respect and courtesy toward opposing student-athletes, coaches, and game officials. Any spectators creating an unsafe environment, including coming onto or attempting to come onto the playing surface without University authorization, throwing items onto the playing surface or at any person, or otherwise engaging in disorderly conduct, will be removed from the facility.
The event staff and law enforcement have been trained to intervene where necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met. Guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest security guard or event staff personnel.
Examples of prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to: throwing objects of any kind; attempting to climb the goal posts, entering or attempting to enter the field of play, or engaging in other types of disorderly behavior; engaging in behavior that endangers the safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials or other guests; and taunting event staff, student-athletes, coaches or training staff, referees or game officials, public safety officials, or any other person whose ability to perform their game-related responsibilities could be impaired by such taunting.
Guests who exhibit disorderly behavior or otherwise violate stadium policies and the Texas Athletics Sportsmanship and Code of Conduct policies are subject to the following consequences: ticket revocation, ejection from the facility without refund, and/or arrest and prosecution. Students failing to meet these expectations or otherwise engaged in disruptive behavior will also be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students for disciplinary action. The University reserves the right to manage the stadium, event, and conduct of attendees as it sees fit. What actions are necessary and appropriate are within the sole discretion of the University, and are based on public safety concerns, operational or staffing considerations, or any other appropriate and lawful business reason. Rules and Scoring
NCAA Beach Volleyball rules may be found here.
Schedule
The Texas Beach Volleyball schedule may be found here.
Scoring
The dual meet match is formatted in five best-of-three sets, pairs matches, with each pairs match being worth one point (similar to tennis singles). Each pairs match is won by the team that wins two sets. Each set is played first to 21 points (instead of 25 for indoor), and a team must win by at least two points. If the sets are tied 1-1, the decisive third set is played to 15, where the winner must again win by at least two points. Beach volleyball uses rally scoring, which gives both teams — whether serving or not — a chance to score points on each given rally.
Seating
Bleacher seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis on the courts and fans may also stand in designated standing room only areas on the perimeter of the courts.
Smoking policy
In accordance with University policy, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the UT campus.
