Tyler Janota enters his third season as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Men’s Basketball at The University of Texas. During his first two years with the Longhorns, Janota worked closely in the physical development of Mohamed Bamba, the No. 6 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, and Jaxson Hayes, the No. 8 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks (traded to the New Orleans Pelicans).
Prior to coming to Texas, the 27-year-old Janota worked for four months during the 2016-17 season as the assistant strength and conditioning coordinator at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. In that role, he programmed and designed all aspects of training for Lamar’s men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball teams.
During the summer of 2016, he served as a Basketball Athletic Performance intern at The University of Texas.
Janota spent the 2015-16 season as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Belmont University in Nashville. During his time at Belmont, he designed all aspects of the training program for the men’s soccer, women’s tennis and cheerleading squads. Janota also designed training sessions for the men’s basketball team under the supervision of the head strength and conditioning coordinator and oversaw the Belmont internship program.
Janota received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) in 2015. He earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Belmont in May 2017.
A certified strength and conditioning specialist, Janota claimed all-conference honors in football while at Northwestern College. He served as a volunteer assistant in the Northwestern College Athletics Department for seven months during his undergraduate career, where he designed all aspects of training for the men’s basketball program and worked with all 15 of the school’s varsity sports programs. Janota also did an internship in the summer of 2014 at Baylor University.
A native of Goliad, Texas, Janota was born on Aug. 14, 1992.
