New Mexico State and Texas A&M Game Times Set
06.25.2001 | Football
AUSTIN, Texas -- Two University of Texas football game times have been set. Both contests - the season opener against New Mexico State and regular-season finale at Texas A&M - will be broadcast nationally by FOX Sports Net and ABC, respectively.
The Longhorns, currently riding a streak of three consecutive nine-victory seasons and three straight bowl appearances, will open the 2001 campaign against New Mexico State at 6 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net. Texas, which defeated the Aggies 66-36 to open the 1998 season, has won both of its meetings with New Mexico State in school history.
The 107th meeting between UT and Texas A&M will kickoff at 11 a.m. (CT) on Friday, Nov. 23 at Kyle Field in front of a national television audience on ABC. The Longhorns, who have won four of the past six meetings in the series, defeated A&M 43-17 to cap off a regular-season ending six-game winning streak last season. The Longhorns lead the all-time series, 68-34-5. The four-year cycle, which started last year with the Texas/Texas A&M game kicking off at 2:30 p.m., will see the Longhorns and Aggies kicking off at 11 a.m. (CT) the next two seasons. The 2003 game, which will be played at Kyle Field, will start at 2:30 p.m. (CT). The four-year cycle will repeat from 2004-2007.
