AUSTIN, Texas -- Former University of Texas linebacker Brian Jones has been selected to handle the sideline reporter duties for Longhorn football radio broadcasts this fall. Jones, who played seven years in the NFL, will join play-by-play voice Bill Schoening and color analyst Craig Way on the statewide Longhorn Sports Network.
A first-team All-SWC linebacker in 1990, Jones led the Longhorns in tackles in 1989 (108) and 1990 (116). He played in the NFL from 1991-98 for the Indianapolis Colts (1991), Miami Dolphins (1992), Los Angeles Raiders (1994) and New Orleans Saints (1995-98).
Jones is currently serving as a co-host of the afternoon "Press Box" show on Austin's Sportsradio 1300 The Zone. He will begin his duties as sideline reporter for the radio broadcasts when Texas opens the 2001 season against New Mexico State on Sept. 1 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
