Three Longhorns named to 2003 CoSIDA Academic District VI Team

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas placed three players on the 2003 CoSIDA Academic District VI Football Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Senior running back Brett Robin (Austin, Texas) and senior defensive end Kalen Thornton (Dallas, Texas) earned spots on the first team, while junior center Jason Glynn (Richardson, Texas) was named to the second team.
For being named to the first team, Robin and Thornton will be placed on the ballot for the Academic All-America Team. District VI includes colleges in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Robin, who holds a 3.75 GPA in kinesiology/pre-med, has played in all 10 games this season, totaling 237 yards rushing on 45 carries with two touchdowns, while catching eight passes for 34 yards. Robin also earned first-team Academic All-District and Academic All-Big 12 honors last season.
Thornton, a finance major with a 3.2 GPA, has played in and started nine of 10 games in 2003, registering 31 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and 17 quarterback pressures, while batting down two passes and forcing one fumble. Thornton has been named to the Academic All-District and Academic All-Big 12 teams in each of the last three years.
Glynn, who holds a 3.2 GPA in corporate communications, has started all 10 games at center this season, helping the offense compile an average 440 yards per game, including 229 per game on the ground. Glynn has earned Academic All-Big 12 honors in each of his first three seasons and has been named to the Academic All-District team the past two seasons.
