Two-minute drill: Michael Huff

On redshirting his freshman year: It was the best thing to happen to me. I was a "cover 2" track guy in high school, so I never really had to cover anybody. That time helped me transition and learn. I pretty much knew I was going to redshirt when I signed, but I didn't know that so many of us were going to redshirt.
On the 2002 Texas Tech game and being a rookie: I was nervous and a little scared at first. I knew they threw the ball a lot. I just had that faith that I would go out there and be fine. That was the most tired I had been after a game. Going in, I had never run that much in a game. I was chasing all of those drag routes around the field. With every play being a pass, I had to run.
On the food in his refrigerator: I have some Jello pudding, some donut holes, and some V8 Berry Blend juice. I don't like supplements. It's all natural.
On what he does to stay in shape: During television commercials, I run up and down the stairs and work on my form. I go up, go down, then up and down again. I don't know why, I have just always done that. It helps me keep my track form. Growing up, we used to have a house with stairs. So I guess it started then.
On his flip in the Colorado game: They were going in toward our locker room. I was blitzing on it, just trying to make a play. I knew [Hugh] Charles was going to try and cut me. So I dove over him and he kind of clipped my foot. I just rolled over and did this nice little somersault. I didn't make the play, but it felt good.
On his best play this season: That would probably be when I cut off the reverse on Rice. I had a tackle for a loss. And I got my first sack this year. I've blitzed about two or three times a game this year because we are blitzing a whole lot more.
On being more aggressive this year: Coach Akina has been challenging me to get more aggressive each year. It is the main part of my game that I have to get better on. During spring training, we do a lot of tackling drills on the pole vault mats and. We just do a whole bunch of tackling drills. I just have to think more about being aggressive and less about what I have to do. I just have to be in the right place to hit hard.
On being named UT Student-Athlete of the Month: I am very honored. I am glad my five years of hard work have paid off. That is the reason I came to The University of Texas -- to get my degree. My parents will be proud.
