Women's Basketball hosts intrasquad scrimmage prior to exhibition play

AUSTIN, Texas -- The first public unveiling of the 2005-06 Longhorns women's basketball team took place Saturday morning when Jody Conradt's squad took to the Erwin Center floor for a one and one-half hour team scrimmage in front of hundreds of appreciative family members, friends and fans.
"It was a great opportunity to see everyone in game-like action today," noted Conradt. "I was really encouraged by what I saw out there. I can go down the roster to each player and point out some really impressive things that they did today.
There is a learning curve with our seven freshmen, but I can tell you that I saw moments of brilliance from each and every one of them out there this morning."
Conradt summed up where the Longhorns are as they ready to face their first exhibition opponent in five days. Texas hosts Everyones Internet, a team from the Houston area comprised of former collegians and WNBA players, on Thursday evening (Nov. 3) at 7 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center.
"We saw that we are able to really push the ball up and down the floor. Our transition game is going to be very important for us," Conradt continued. "In terms of question marks, our defense is not at all where it needs to be, and we have some work to do with the posts and who is going to emerge to help Tiffany (Jackson) out in the paint. All in all, I was very pleased with the developments, the attitudes and hard work we saw during the scrimmage today."
