Vince Young finishes second in Heisman balloting

NEW YORK -- Texas QB Vince Young became the third-highest Heisman finisher in UT history when he took second in the 2005 Heisman balloting, the Downtown Athletic Club announced Saturday.
Young is only behind winners Ricky Williams (1998) and Earl Campbell (1977) in Texas history, with the Longhorns having two third-place finishers in RB Roosevelt Leaks (1973) and RB James Saxson (1961). Young finished with 79 first-place votes and 1,608 total points behind winner Reggie Bush of USC.
In 2005, Young has guided the Longhorns to their first 12-0 record in school history. He has completed 182-of-285 (63.9%) passes for 2,769 yards (No. 3 on UT's single-season list) and 26 TDs (T-No. 1 on UT's single-season list). He ranks first in the nation in passing efficiency at 168.6. He has also rushed 136 times for 850 yards and nine TDs. With 3,619 yards of total offense, Young has become UT's single-season leader in total offense, bettering Major Applewhite's total of 3,211 yards in 1999.
