McGregory wins 200 back at American Short Course Championships

AUSTIN, Texas -- Fresh off a win in the 100-yard backstroke and a runner-up performance in the 200-yard backstroke at the 2005 Big 12 Championships last week, freshman Hayley McGregory (Houston, Texas) clocked 1:55.45 to defeat the field and win the 200-yard backstroke at the 2005 American Short Course Championships on Saturday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
McGregory, an NCAA automatic qualifier in both backstroke events, is one of 15 current UT women's swimmers who will head to the West Lafayette, Ind., where Purdue University will host the 2005 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships from Thursday, March 17, through Saturday, March 19.
