How have things been since you left Austin? Things have been great. From the (NFL scouting) combines to just playing football, learning more about the game, being around veterans, and being drafted -- things have been great.
Now that you've completed mini-camps, what was the biggest thing you took from them? Being able to go against the veteran guys and see if you really belong in the (NFL) league was a good experience. I did a good job though, so I really feel like I do belong. I still have training camps to get through, but overall, I feel like I did a really good job.
What are your expectations entering the fall and training camps? My expectations right now are just to play. And after that, become a starter and contribute to the team. Those are my main goals for now.
How does it feel to be back in Austin? I'm just back for a few days. My birthday was on June 29, so I had to come back and celebrate. Other than that, I'm just relaxing. I've got a week off and then I have to head back (to Denver).
What are your plans for the rest of the summer? Basically I'm just getting in shape, learning schemes, learning my defense more, and just doing everything I can so I can contribute to the team.
How is Denver in the summer? It's been great. I mean what else do I have to do? This is my job. Getting in the film room, watching tape, running, getting in shape, and just getting a better grasp on the game overall -- that's my job. It's been great being able to start so early so that I'll really be ready when the season starts.
How has it been to have Selvin Young in camp with you? It's definitely great having Selvin there. I've known him for four years. He's been there with me through all the blood, sweat, and tears -- since back in the day. We push each other, and when times get rough up there, we can remind each other that we've been through a lot worse before. Selvin is doing great; he's been working hard and getting in the weight room. He looks like he did during his freshman year. He hasn't had any injuries. He's been running the ball hard, and just doing great.
