Longhorns earn All-Big 12 honors

The Big 12 Conference announced the All-Big 12 Conference football teams as selected by the league's coaches, and Texas had 19 players chosen, including four on the first team and six on the second team, while senior DE Brian Orakpo was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Orakpo is the third Longhorn to be named Defensive Player of the Year after LB Derrick Johnson in 2004 and DT Casey Hampton in 2000. He had also been named Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2005.
The conference also named Orakpo Defensive Lineman of the Year and selected him to the first team. OT Adam Ulatoski, DT Roy Miller and LB Sergio Kindle joined Orakpo on the first team.
On the second team were QB Colt McCoy, WR Jordan Shipley, who also earned second-team honors as a kick returner, C Chris Hall, PK Hunter Lawrence and CB Ryan Palmer.
WR Quan Cosby, OG Cedric Dockery, S Blake Gideon, DL Aaron Lewis, DE Henry Melton, LB Roddrick Muckelroy, RB Chris Ogbonnaya, OG Charlie Tanner and S Earl Thomas earned honorable mention honors.
