No. 5 Men's Tennis blanks Oklahoma, 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 5 Texas (15-3, 2-0) swept doubles and all six singles matches to open conference play with an unblemished record, as the Horns dealt Oklahoma a 7-0 defeat Sunday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
With the match beginning with singles play due to the possibility of inclement weather, freshman Ed Corrie staked Texas to a 1-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win at third singles over Vlad Marinescu, and the Longhorns extended their lead to 2-0 when freshman Kellen Damico
Freshman Dimitar Kutrovsky knocked off Andrei Daescu by a 7-5, 6-2 count at first singles, and senior Luis Diaz Barriga defeated Federico Chavarria at fourth singles, 7-5, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Longhorns.
Senior Milan Mihailovic added a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at fifth singles over Joitoui, and junior Miguel Reyes Varela defeated OU's Ryan Thomas by a 7-5, 6-3 count to close out the singles session at the sixth slot.
Texas made short work of the Sooners in the doubles session, taking all three matches in decisive fashion with new doubles pairs at all three positions. Senior Hubert Chodkiewicz and sophomore Jon Wiegand made their conference debut at third doubles, defeating Sergey Avdeyev and Alexandru Joitoui by an 8-2 margin.
"I just want to say our thoughts are with OU's Ionut Beleleu, who suffered a terrible head injury on Friday," UT coach Michael Center said. "It must have been very difficult for the OU players, but they fought very hard today."
Texas returns to action on Thursday, April 3 when it hosts Tulsa at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
