4:59 p.m. - Texas kickers, punters and deep snappers have reported to the field for pre-game warm-ups and Bevo has staked out his claim on a spot in the shade. It's 89 degrees and sunny at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. There is a slight wind from the east at 4 MPH.
5:18 p.m. - Various Longhorns Olympians are gathering near the field for a pre-game presentation. Expected to attend today are Ricky Berens (men's swimming), Michelle Carter (women's track and field), Hee-Jin Chang (women's swimming), Susana Escobar (women's swimming), Trey Hardee (men's track and field), Kathleen Hersey (women's swimming), Marshevet Hooker (women's track and field), Andra Manson (men's track and field) Leo Manzano (men's track and field), Scott Spann (women's swimming), Dave Walters (men's swimming), Coach Kim Brackin (women's swimming), Coach Gail Goestenkors (women's basketball), Coach Eddie Reese (men's swimming), Coach Matt Scoggin (men's and women's diving), Coach Kris Kubik (men's swimming), Coach Bubba Thornton (men's track and field), Coach Mario Sategna (men's track and field).
5:46 p.m. - Both teams have headed to the locker rooms and the Texas Olympians from the 2008 Beijing Games are now being recognized.

6:18 p.m. - Texas and Rice are meeting for the 91st time. UT leads the series that began in 1914, 68-21-1, and has won the last nine meetings. The Horns hold a 40-8 advantage in series games played in Austin, including 34-7 at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

6:25 p.m. - (10:13 1st) - Quan Cosby logged a reception in his 35th consecutive game.
6:27 p.m. - (10:13 1st) - Despite fumbling on the play, Quan Cosby's 35-yard reception put him in seventh place on the UT list for career reception yardage, passing Wane McGarity (1,687) with 1,698 yards.
6:38 p.m. - (6:44 1st) - Colt McCoy's 8-yard TD run was his second of the season and the eighth of his career.
6:30 p.m. - (6:44 1st) - McCoy's TD run capped a 3-play, 60-yard scoring drive, covering 1:03 on the clock. The Horns have scored on 13 of 14 visits to the red zone this season, inclulding 12 TDs.
6:51 p.m. - (0:00 1st) - After one quarter, Colt McCoy is 4-of-5 passing for 94 yards and has two carries for 32 yards and one TD. Quan Cosby has two receptions for 54 yards.
6:53 p.m. - The Longhorns are leading after one quarter for the fourth consecutive game. Texas has not allowed a first quarter TD this season.
7:02 p.m. - (10:51 - 2nd) Jordan Shipley's 30-yard TD reception was the 12th of his career. It ties him with six other players for 10th place on UT's career TD reception list.
7:04 p.m. - (10:51 - 2nd) Colt McCoy's 30-yard TD pass to Jordan Shipley was the 59th of his career. He is one shy of tying Major Applewhite for the UT career mark.
7:06 p.m. - (10:51 - 2nd) UT's scoring drive covered 99 yards over 12 pl;ays. McCoy went 6-for-6 for 70 yards and rushed one time for 15 yards. He accounted for 85 of UT's 99 yards on the drive. McCoy has completed nine consecutive passes.
7:16 p.m. - (7:22 - 2nd) With his 60-yard TD pass to Jordan Shipley, Colt McCoy tied Major Applewhite for first place on UT's all-time TD pass list with his 60th. It is McCoy's sixth career pass of 60 or more yards.
7:18 p.m. - (7:22 - 2nd) After not connecting on his first pass of the game, Colt McCoy has completed 10 in a row for 214 yards. It marks the second time this season that McCoy has thrown 10 straight completions in a game. The only other players to connect on 10 or more consecutive passes in a game are Vince Young (12 vs. Oklahoma State in 2004) and Chris Simms (10 vs. Texas Tech in 2001).
7:26 p.m. - Jordan Shipley has his first career 100-yard receiving game. Through 25 minutes of action, he has three catches for 120 yards and two TDs. It marks the second time in his career he hauled in two TDs, with the other game being against Iowa STate last season.
7:28 p.m. - Colt McCoy has his 20th career 200-yard passing game, tying him with James Brown for second place on UT's all-time list. The duo trails only Major Applewhite (29).
7:32 p.m. - (2:45 - 2nd) Rice had 11 snaps from inside UT's 6-yard line and was unable to score.
7:39 p.m. - (0:43 - 2nd) Colt McCoy's pass sailed over Quan Cosby's head, snapping a streak of 13 consecutive completions. The streak tied McCoy's on school single-game record he set in the season opener against Florida Atlantic. It is also tied for fourth on UT's all-time list, two shy of McCoy's 15 straight completions against Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Texas A&M in 2006 and Vince Young's 15 straight completions against Colorado and USC in 2005 and one short of Vince Young's 14 against Oklahoma State and Kansas in 2004.
7:52 p.m. - Colt McCoy tossed for 269 yards in the first half. The yardage is tied for the third highest total for a first half in school history. Major Applewhite holds the record with 314 yards against Stanford in 1999. McCoy threw for 295 against Rice in 2007. Chris Simms threw for 269 against Kansas in 2001 and Applewhite hit for 269 against Oklahoma State in 1998.
7:55 p.m. - The last two games against Rice, Colt McCoy has thrown for a total of 564 yards over the two first halves. Each of the two first halfs are among the top 5 efforts in school annals.
8:15 p.m. - (9:46 - 3rd) The Longhorns have rolled up 400 yards of total offense. It marks the 62nd time in the last 93 games the Horns have reached the mark.
8:24 p.m. - (8:28 - 3rd) Colt McCoy set the UT career TD pass record with his 61st career scoring throw. He completed a 5-yard scoring strike to Quan Cosby to cap a 13-play, 79-yard drive to take 6:32 off the clock.
8:36 p.m. - Colt McCoy has moved past Peter Gardere (7,409) for fourth place on UT's career list for total offense. He has amassed 7,492 yards as of 3:16 remaining in the third quarter.
8:46 p.m. - (0:03 - 3rd) Chris Ogbonnaya's 46-yard TD reception from Colt McCoy was his second of the season and his career. The UT scoring drive was 80 yards on four plays, it took 2:01 off the clock.
8:49 p.m. - (0:03 - 3rd) Colt McCoy has his fifth career 300-yard passing game. He ranks third on UT's career list, trailing only Major Applewhite (9) and James Brown (7).
8:52 p.m. - After three quarters, Texas has rolled up 524 yards of total offense. UT has produced 36 500-yard total offense performances in the Mack Brown era... There are only 59 of them in the 116 years of Texas football.
9:05 p.m. - John Chiles 25-yard TD run marked the longest rush of his career. He rushed for 23 yards on two separate occasions in 2007, including against Rice and Iowa State. It marked his first TD run of the season and the second of his career.
9:07 p.m. - Texas eclipsed the 200-yard mark both rushing and passing for the second time this season. The Horns have logged 200 yards both rushing and passing 42 times under Mack Brown and Greg Davis.
9:16 p.m. - (3:59 - 4th) Texas has reached the 50-point plateau for the 35th time since Mack Brown's arrival. The Longhorns have scored 50 or more in each of the last four games against Rice.
9:21 p.m. - (3:59 - 4th) Cody Johnson has one TD run in each of UT's first three games.
