AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas sophomore Leah Gingrich tallied three individual wins and led the White squad to a 143-95 win in the annual Orange-White intrasquad meet Friday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Gingrich led off the individual events with a win in the 800-yard freestyle in 8:01.72 before classmate Kathleen Hersey added a win for team white by taking the 150 backstroke in 1:27.32. Junior Carlye Ellis scored a win for team white in the 50 breaststroke in 29.67 before Gingrich claimed the 150 butterfly in 1:28.24.
Freshman Kelsey Amundsen added another win for team white by taking the 50 freestyle in 23.83 before sophomore Lauren Caldwell captured the one-meter diving event for team orange with 316.57 points. Sophomore Karlee Bispo notched another win for team orange by taking the 150 freestyle in 1:22.24. Amundsen tacked on her second win for team white when she claimed the 50 butterfly in 26.42.
Bispo scored her second victory when she won the 150 breaststroke in 1:40.45. Sophomore Katie Riefenstahl registered a win for team orange by claiming the 50 backstroke in 26.50. Gingrich tallied her third win of the day in the 400 IM with a time of 4:21.29, and freshman Maren Taylor won the three-meter diving event for team white with 315.15 points.
Texas opens the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Missouri.
