Three Horns named to USTFCCCA South Central All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Texas Women's Cross Country seniors Betzy Jimenez and Allison Mendez and sophomore Mia Behm have been named to the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central All-Region Team. Jimenez earns her second career all-region nod, while Mendez and Behm were honored for the first time.
Jimenez clocked a personal-best 6K time of 20:54.5 to finish second overall at the 2009 NCAA South Central Region Championships (Nov. 14) to automatically qualify for the National Championships after being one of the top four individuals not on either of the top two teams.
Behm will also compete at the 2009 NCAA Cross Country Championships after placing 11th overall at the regional championships with a personal-best time of 21:23.4. Senior Allison Mendez, who posted two individual wins during the 2009 season, crossed the line in a career-best time of 21:36.8 for 18th.
To earn a spot on the all-region team, a student-athlete had to finish in the top 25 at their respective NCAA Region Championship.
The 2009 NCAA Cross Country Championships will take place on Monday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
