No. 17 Women's Basketball defeats CMU in Miami Wyndham Holiday Tournament Opener

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Brittainey Raven had a season-high 26 points and 10 rebounds as No. 17 Texas defeated Central Michigan, 94-83 in the opening round of the Miami Wyndham Holiday Tournament.
Ashley Gayle also recorded a double-double for Texas (8-3) - her second straight, with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Kathleen Nash scored 18 points - 16 in the first half and Erika Arriaran added 15 points in the win.
Jalisa Olive led Central Michigan (3-8) with 22 points - 20 coming in the second half. Britni Houghton scored 12 points for the Chippewas, while Kaihla Szunko and Stefanie Mauk each scored 11. Shonda Long and Heidi Warczinsky added 10 points apiece.
Down 20 early in the second half, Central Michigan pulled to within four at 72-68 with 7:44 to play.
The Longhorns rallied and closed the game on a 22-15 run.
Texas hit eight three-pointers in the first half in building a 52-37 lead. For the game, UT hit 11 treys - three apiece from Arriaran, Nash and Raven.
The Longhorns will face the winner of the Miami/Quinnipiac contest in tomorrow's tournament final at 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. depending on the outcome.
